Waves Occupational Therapy is a small team of experienced, HCPC-registered occupational therapists working across Cornwall and Devon. Every EASI, MABC-2 and handwriting assessment is carried out by someone on this page — here’s a little more about each of us.
Dawn Berryman
Dawn set up Waves OT after years in the NHS, where she saw families facing long waits and limited hands-on support. She wanted to offer something more responsive — timely, personalised therapy built around each family, not a waiting list.
She qualified from the University of the West of England in 2014 and has since worked across acute hospital care, community health, mental health and paediatrics. Dawn has completed the full CLASI Certificate in Ayres Sensory Integration, is trained to administer and interpret the EASI, and is a qualified DIR Floortime practitioner.
As a mother and stepmother with lived experience of autism, dyspraxia and ADHD within her own family, she understands what she’s asking of the families she works with — and brings that understanding into every report.
Meet the wider team
Waves OT works with a small group of associate therapists, each bringing their own specialism — from paediatric sensory integration to complex case management. Everyone is HCPC-registered and DBS-checked.
Beth
28 years’ post-graduate experience, 26 of them in paediatrics. Beth holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Sensory Integration and has spent over 20 years at Plymouth Child Development Centre, working with complex caseloads across sensory processing, autism and school-based difficulties. She also delivers parent and SENCo training.
Anna
A first-class graduate from the University of Northampton, Anna currently works as a Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist for Cornwall Council. She specialises in major adaptations, equipment provision and palliative care, alongside functional assessments and Disabled Facilities Grant applications.
Emily
Emily specialises in community-based therapy and rehabilitation, with particular expertise in splinting, upper limb therapy and sensory processing. She works closely with families, educators and multidisciplinary teams to support neurodivergent children with tailored, evidence-based intervention.
Mel Terry
Qualified since 2000, Mel has spent two decades in senior NHS roles and private practice, focused on complex case management, vocational rehabilitation and fatigue management. She holds a BSc in Occupational Therapy, an MSc in Advanced Professional Practice and a PGCE.
Michelle
Michelle supports our occupational therapists, physiotherapists and dietitians across special schools, nurseries and community settings. She helps deliver therapy programmes, supports posture and seating work, and assists with CIMT programmes for children with complex needs.
Frankie Pompili
Frankie retrained as an Occupational Therapist in 2010 after a career in television news and documentaries, beginning in forensic mental health and psychiatric intensive care. She qualified as a Sensory Integration Practitioner in 2015 and moved into community paediatrics, and is also a DIR Floortime practitioner with further training in interoception, reflex integration and trauma-informed care. Frankie is based at the clinic and travels to schools, nurseries and homes.
Becca Roberts
Becca joined Waves OT after completing a first-class Master’s in Occupational Therapy at the University of Plymouth, spending the past year training in sensory integration alongside an experienced paediatric team in Newquay. She is HCPC-registered, Ayres Sensory Integration trained, and takes a neuro-affirming, trauma-informed approach, drawing on years of earlier experience supporting autistic and disabled children, young people and adults across education, social care and residential settings.
Abi James
Abi qualified from Plymouth Marjon University in 2018 and spent five years as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist within Cornwall Council’s Disabled Children’s Therapy Service, working across homes, schools and respite settings. She began her career in an NHS in-reach/outreach role supporting hospital discharge, and has since worked as sole Occupational Therapist for the Falkland Islands Government, building the service from the ground up. Abi is a qualified moving and handling trainer with wide experience supporting children and young people with autism, ADHD and complex additional needs.
Mickie
Mickie retrained in Occupational Therapy at Brunel University London, gaining a First-Class Honours degree, and has 14 years’ clinical experience, 8 of them specialising in paediatrics. She has worked extensively with children with hemiplegia, dyspraxia and developmental co-ordination disorder, delivering interventions including Constraint Induced Movement Therapy and bespoke hand splinting, alongside a postgraduate qualification in Sensory Integration and Neuroscience. Outside of work, Mickie enjoys being by the sea with her three boys.
